The Old Southendian & Southchurch Cricket Club holds England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Clubmark accreditation and works closely with the Essex Cricket, the Southend School Sports Partnerships and Schools to promote Cricket development in Southend on Sea.
For the last five years, the Club has provided free Cricket Coaching Sessions in a number of Primary Schools in Southend as part of the “Chance to Shine” initiative. These Sessions were organised and delivered by ECB qualified Club Coaches. The Club fields Youth teams at Under 11, Under 13 (2 Teams) and Under 15 (2 Teams) levels in League and Cup competitions organised by the South Essex District Cricket Board.
In 2012, our squad of Girls played in their own Tournaments and in matches against other Clubs. It is planned to field Girls’ Teams at U11 and U13 age levels in 2013. The Girls have a separate evening set aside for their own Coaching and Practice Sessions each week.
From October to December, Youth (Y1 – Y11) Indoor coaching sessions for BOYS AND GIRLS are held in the Southend High School for Boys Sports Hall on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings
From January to April, Youth (Y1 – Y11) Indoor coaching sessions for BOYS AND GIRLS are held in the Southend High School for Boys Sports Hall on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons.
From May to July, Youth (Y1 – Y11) Indoor & Outdoor coaching sessions for BOYS AND GIRLS are held.
At Senior level for the 2013 Season:
Five Saturday Teams will play in the Shepherd Neame Essex Cricket League
One Sunday Team will play in the Essex Sunday League and the Warsop Sunday League
One Sunday Team will play friendly fixtures
Indoor Net Sessions are also held in the Southend High School for Boys Sports Hall on Sunday afternoons from the end of January until the start of the playing season
Outdoor evening practice will take place during the playing season
If you have a son or daughter that would like to learn to play, learn more about cricket at Club Sessions, and play in one of our Teams in 2013, please contact me! All playing gear and equipment is provided; boys and girls only need suitable sports clothing and appropriate footwear.
