Year 5 & 6 Tag Rugby Tournament

2011’s Year 5/6 Tag Rugby tournament once again showed the competitive spirit of the Southend Schools with another fiercely contested competition.

The 2011 competition, once again hosted by Southend Rugby Club was held on a sunny day with the teams motivated by the promise of representing Southend at the regional level.

As the day progressed there were many standout performances from teams and individuals alike but the 4 teams left standing going into the semi final stage were West Leigh, Chalkwell, Bournes Green and Temple Sutton.

Spirited performances from Chalkwell and Temple Sutton were not enough to stop West Leigh and Bournes Green marching onward to a hotly anticipated final game that drew the attention of the their fellow competitors and people in attendance.

In a game that could have gone either way it was West Leigh who eventually took the win, the trophy and a nice haul of points for the SSP Medal Table.

We would like to thank the staff of School Sports Partnerships, members of Southend Rugby Club and the teachers from each school for their support and encouragement of the young athletes and Southend School Sport.
