Making Sport Happen

Last Tuesday the 29th November, 36 people across Southend attended a Sport Makers workshop to become a Sport Maker.  Anyone can be a sporting hero this year and next. The Sport England project funded by the lottery is looking for 40,000 Sport Makers in the UK. Essex has a target of 1,324 and The Eastwood Academy were the first school in Essex to hold a Workshop. Anyone age 16 plus can become a Sport Maker, they must attend a workshop and then log 10 hour’s worth of volunteering or in making sport happen to be in for a chance to win Olympic tickets plus other benefits from Sport Essex. For more workshops and information please visit www.sportmakers.org.uk.

You’ll not only get the skills, knowledge and opportunities you need to get more people playing sport, you’ll become part of the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sports legacy.

“It was brilliant to see some many Girls take part in the Sport Makers workshop as the majority who have come forward have been males. With the Olympics around the corner we are very proud here at the SWSSP to be able offer so many opportunities on the run up to the Olympics that can help towards these makers 10 hours.”
