Alleyn Court takes the double

This morning saw the year 3 & 4 pupils from across the two partnerships enjoy the sunshine in the annual hockey tournament.

The tournament consisted of two pools with seven teams. Heycroft, St Michaels, Bournemouth Park, Thorpe Hall, Chalkwell Hall, Alleyn Court & Thorpe Greenways.

It was a close completion in Pool A with Thorpe Hall & Heycroft winning two out of their three games, Pool B had Chalkwell Hall score five goals in seven minutes however this was not enough to keep Alleyn Court from winning the Pool and playing for the title.

The final saw Alleyn Court seal victory with a 2-1 win over Heycroft, regaining the title for another year. Thorpe Hall scored a golden goal to win the bronze medals over Chalkwell Hall.

The sun kept shinning for the year 5 & 6 tournament which saw all teams showing a great sense of determination, speed and skills. Eleven teams took part Blenheim, Milton Hall, Chalkwell Hall, Bournemouth Park, Alleyn Court, Thorpe Greenways, Heycroft, St Michaels, Fairways, Earls Hall & Thorpe Hall.

Goals galore in a short period of time (5 minutes one way). Thorpe Hall  & Alleyn Court raced to the top of the leader board with four wins. Fairways and Blenheim battled it out for bronze with Blenheim winning with a 2-1 victory. Alleyn Court made it a double win by scoring a golden goal against Thorpe Hall School.

Congratulations to all players who participated in the tournament, coaches, teachers and parents who helped make the competition go so well and a fun day for all involved.

Special thanks must go to the SWSSP and SESSP staff for the refereeing and organisation of the competition. Photos can be found on Schools\Southend West SSP\2012\Hockey Yr 3to6 1st March.
