Sun shines for the Tag Rugby

The years 3 & 4 Tag Rugby Tournament was held at The Southend Rugby Club today. The two partnerships were split into four pools and matches were played. The competition consisted of each team playing each other team in their pool. With the four winning teams from each pool playing for the medals. All schools were blessed with the fantastic weather and the sun shone the whole afternoon!

The participating schools from the west were Chalkwell, Heycroft, Milton Hall, Edwards Hall, Sacred Heart, St Helens, Barons Court, Darlinghurst and West Leigh.  The East teams were Thorpe Greenways, Alleyn Court, Bournes Green, Bournemouth Park, Temple Sutton, Prince Avernue, Thorpe Greenways and Earls Hall. All schools showed a huge improvement from last year in skill and team work. A special mention goes to Barons Court who had a Year 3 team enter being their first junior competition. Their sportsmanship and skill was exceptional.

The playoffs for Third and Fourth place were between West Leigh and Thorpe Hall which saw West Leigh dominate to win.

The final was between Alleyn Court and Bournes Green was action packed. At half time the score was 2-2 to however Alleyn Court was determined to win another tournament.  Alleyn Court powered through to the win with the result ending 4-2. A fantastic final to watch by all!

Special thanks to all teachers and parents who came to support and both the SWSSP and SESSP teams who made sure the competition ran smoothly. We look forward to seeing you all at the next competition on the 28th March years 3 & 4 Football at Play, Chase High School.
