Key Stage 2 Rounders Competition

The schools from across the Borough enjoyed the sunshine today at the Year 5 & 6 Rounders Competition. The Girls competed in the morning setting the standard for the day. The event this year took place at Thorpe Hall School, both partnerships would like to thank Thorpe Hall because without their hospitality we wouldn’t have been able to run this competition.

The fifteen schools from across Southend were placed in four pools where schools played every school in their pool once. The top team from each pool plus the best three runners up progressed into the quarter final stage.  This left the following matches: Bournes Green v Heycoft, Temple Sutton v Prince Ave, Bournemouth Park v Earls Hall and Faiways v Alleyn Court.  Semi Finals saw Temple Sutton v Bournes Green & Alleyn Court v Fairways. Bournes Green  sealed victory over Alleyn Court in the final to finish as Champions of the Year 5 & 6 Girls Rounders 2012

The sun continued to shine in the afternoon for another round of rounders with the boys from the Southend Borough providing excitement and showing off their batting and fielding skills. The fifteen  schools from across Southend  were placed in five pools where schools played every school in their pool once. The competition followed the same format as the girls with 8 schools progressing through to the quarter final. This left the following matches: Bournes Green v Thorpe Greenways, Earls Hall v Bournes Green B, Chalkwell v Prince Ave and Edwards hall v Fairways .  Semi Finals saw  Bournes Green v Earls Hall and Chalwell v Edwards Hall. Bournes Green secured the double with victory over Edwards Hall to finish as Champions of the Year 5 & 6 Boys Rounders 2011 in a close game.

 Bournes Green now progress through to the Essex Competition being held at Basildon Sporting Village on the 28th  June. We wish you good luck.
