SPSSA TORCH RELAY Day 3 Wednesday 27th June

Day 3 of the Southend Primary Schools Sports Association Torch Relay began with the torch being collected from West Leigh by pupils from St Michaels School who upon their return were greeted by excited parents and pupils.

Pupils from Leigh North Street soon arrived at St Michaels for the next leg of the relay to carry the torch to their school, where the torchbearers were welcomed in the playground as they ran a lap to great applause from staff and pupils.

The next leg of the torch relay saw pupils from Chalkwell Hall collect the torch from Leigh North Street and make their way along Pall Mall and onto Leigh Road where they were met by younger pupils who joined them for the final run into their school playground where parents and pupils were waiting to cheer them in. The torch was then taken into nearby Chalkwell Park where pupils were given the opportunity to run with the torch around part of the park.

Torchbearers from College St Pierre soon arrived for the handover of the torch to their school who then ran a lap of the cricket pitch at Chalkwell Park before making the short journey into their school where they were welcomed by flag-waving pupils.
