After successfully piloting the School Run scheme for Essex County Council last term, the Southend West SSP are pleased to announce that the School Run will be starting again this term with more runs being added across the borough. The ‘School Run’ is designed to encourage you as parents to get involved in running/walking with sessions catering for a mix of abilities from beginners to intermediate levels.
The sessions will include a week by week introduction into running and can be anything from running/walking to the nearest coffee shop and back. The sessions will include a variety of running/walking activities and most importantly will be FUN! It can also provide a chance to catch up with friends from school.
We feel this is a brilliant way of encouraging you as parents to get active and in return hope you will encourage your children to be active. All sessions are led by a qualified LiRF (Leadership in Running Fitness) leader and they ask for a donation of £3 per session towards their costs.
We have arranged a number of sessions to take place across Southend starting the week commencing Monday 17th September which are displayed below. If you are interested in joining any of these sessions may we ask you to contact the Southend West SSP to confirm your attendance by emailing [email protected] or calling 01702 508653. If you have a group who would prefer a different location please let us know and we will try our best to organise for you.
