Southend Schools Mountain Biking Competition

A great afternoon was had by all that attended the Southend Primary Schools Mountain Biking competiton at Priory Park on Wednesday 19th September, hosted by the Southend West School Sport Partnership and supported by Bike It Southend.

The afternoon's events started with a series of bike skill stations where the young cyclist's bike handling skills were put to the test. Before long, attention had turned to the main races which were split into individual year groups with the Year 3 Boys and Girls first to race over the Priory Park course. Pupils from Bournes Green, Bournemouth Park and Temple Sutton excelled themselves, showing great ability and determination which was evident when it came down to working out the points for the overall title.

After the last race of the day, the Year 6 Boys and Girls category, the points were totalled and only 1 point seperated all three schools! The joint winners were Bournes Green and Temple Sutton with Bournemouth Park just missing out and finishing in the runners up spot.

Congratulations to all those that took part in what was a brilliant afternoon's racing and a big thanks to all parents and staff who came over to support the participating teams, we hope you had a great time!
