Year 5/6 Boys Football Tournament

The day began with bright sun shine as students awoke in preparation for the annual Year 5/6 Football tournament not knowing how the weather was going to go or whether they would be going home victorious. Thankfully, the weather held and the pitches were in perfect condition.

The teams arrived at Alleyn Court playing fields, raring to go. The teams warmed up and began to play their matches with the knowledge that the best two teams in each of the four groups would go through to the main competition. With the whistles blowing to signal the start of matches the tournament was underway and the action was frantic with goals and skill free flowing.

The final took place in the afternoon still in the beating sun. The final was between hosts Alleyn Court and Bournes Green in what was going to be a tough test of stamina, speed and skill. It was close to begin with but eventually Bournes Green took the lead with a thumper effort from distance, eventually winning the match convincingly 3-0. and were crowned the winners of the year 5/6 Southend Borough football competition.

The 3rd and 4th place playoffs were between St. Michaels and Thorpe Greenways, again this was another tight and contested match, eventually finishing with Thorpe Greenways the victors!
