Earls Hall triumphant Year 3/4 Boys Football

The 10th October saw the year 3/4 boy’s football tournament held at Alleyn Court with all teams arriving in good sprits.

This year’s tournament was played using mini leagues with the top two teams from each league progressing into the main two leagues, which saw the winners of both leagues battling it out for first and second, while the runners up from the two leagues would face each other for the 3rd and 4th place play-offs

The weather held out to give us excellent playing conditions, hot sun with a little moisture on the pitches, making the games fast paced and full of action

After the two leagues were completed, saw Earls Hall and Our Lady of Lourdes progressing to the final having won their second groups.

The 3rd and 4th place play-offs were to be against Heycroft and Chalkwell Hall

The final and 3rd place play-off games were playing in the afternoon after lunch still with the weather very much in our favour, beating the sun onto Alleyn Courts playing fields

Heycrofts match between Chalkwell Hall was a very close contested match seeing Heycroft taking the lead in the first half but Chalkwell Hall levelling deep into the second half. This saw the match taken into extra time, which again couldn’t separate the two teams. Following this and much discussion between the referees and both managers of the teams, it was decided to call the match a draw and for both teams to finish in 3rd place sharing the medals.

As for the final it was settled in a much more traditional way, after end to end action Earls Hall finally took the lead in the first half thanks to some great team play. Our Lady of Lourdes came out for the second half desperately trying to grab and equalizer to no success, this saw Earls Hall winning the final 1-0 and being crowned the 2012 years 3/4 football champions!!
