Leigh-on-Sea Sport Relief Mile raises £6340!

The Eastwood Academy and the Southend West SSP would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make The Leigh on Sea Sport Relief Mile a huge success, with the grand total of money raised coming in at a whopping £6340.86!

A total of 200 people entered the mile long fun run back in March this year which took place on the Eastwood Academy’s £1 million Athletics Track.  Countdown Star Rachel Riley who grew up in Thorpe Bay started the event, which was one of the biggest in the region. All different types of people got involved including local residents and school children. The Eastwood Academy which is also a hub site for the Southend West Sports Partnership prides itself on organising events to promote active and healthy living. The event inspired everyone, even before the fantastic sporting summer and has resulted in many participants joining the local running club Benfleet RC that practice at the school site. The Academy and sports partnership continue to offer many sporting opportunities to all after the Olympics and are now striving to keep the spirit of the Olympics alive.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
