Alleyn Court win Essex Tag Rugby Finals!

A big congratulations to all who represented their partnerships at the Essex Tag Rugby Finals last Thursday.

14 Schools attended the event held at the Southend Rugby & Football Club. The teams were split into four pools and matches were played. The competition consisted of each team playing each other team in their pool, with the two top teams from each pools going through to the Super 8 competition in the afternoon. All schools were blessed with the fantastic weather and the sun shone the whole day.

The participating schools were West Leigh (Previous winners), St Thomas More, St Anne Line, Myland, Buckhurst Hill, Alleyn Court, Church Langley, Great Chesterford, St Peters, Woodside, Bournes Green, Moulsham, Elmwood & Howbridge.   All schools showed a huge improvement from last year in skill and team work. A special mention goes to the Elmwood Staff who showed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament, encouraging all schools, recognising good play and is a credit to the school.

In the end the playoffs for third and fourth was between Woodside & Church Langley with Woodside just stealing the win in the final seconds.

The final was between previous winners West Leigh & Alleyn Court. Both Southend teams were determined to win with Alleyn Court taking the lead, West Leigh didn’t give up and the final went into extra time with Alleyn Court powering through to the win with the result ending 10-9. A fantastic final to watch by all!

We wish both Alleyn Court & West Leigh the best of luck in the regionals.
