ISA Regional Athletics 2013

Alleyn Court pupils had a very successful day at the ISA Regional Athletics with 13 pupils qualifying for the National next Monday at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

A record 18 schools took part with some excellent competition between so very talented young athletes on show all day. The day started brightly for Alleyn Court with the relay heats, in which all 6 teams qualified through to the finals later on in the day. While these heats were going on Seb Dickens won the Year 6 shot putt.

Back on the track the sprint heats were going on and saw Sara Anwar, Jaiden Metha, Jeremy Mwesigwa and Sophie Vidler qualify for the finals.

Next up was the 600m, in which Madissen Samuels (Year 4) won a fantastic and hard fought race and Tom May and Ella Findlay finished 2nd in their respective races and therefore also qualified for the Nationals.

These were followed by the 150m where Matty Bacon (Year 5) stormed to victory by over a second, Sophie Galbraith also smashed her PB and was the clear winner in the Year 4 girl’s race. Luca Albon (Year 6) secured an excellent silver medal.

In the field events Tommy Pinkerton won the Year 6 Cricketball throw, Ethan Selvester won the Year 5 boy’s Cricketball throw, Lily Garner won the Year 6 Rounders Ball throw, Madissen Samuels won the Year 4 girls Long Jump, Matty Bacon won the Year 5 boys Long Jump and Katie Tucker clinched the Silver medal in the Year 5 girl’s High Jump.

In the relay finals there was a bronze medal for the year 6 boys team (Lucas McNamara, Jaiden Metha, Tommy Pinkerton and Luca Albon and gold medals for the year 4 girls (Sophie Galbraith, Leah Crowley, Sara Anwar and Madissen Samuels) and the year 5 boys (Tom May, Archie McAlister, Jeremy Mwesigwa and Matty Bacon)

Well done to all the Alleyn Court Pupils that took part and good luck to those off to Nationals on Monday 17th June.
