Alleyn Court take football title

Today saw the year 3/4 boy’s football tournament held at Alleyn Court with all teams arriving in good spirits.

16 schools from across Southend were split into 4 groups to play each other. The weather held out to give us excellent playing conditions, hot sun with a little moisture on the pitches, making the games fast paced and full of action

After a spot of lunch the top 8 teams played for the title. While the other 8 teams played for the plate. The semi-finals saw a lot of drama with Heycroft vs Fairways and hosts Alleyn Court vs Bournes Green with 10 minutes played and no score, 5 extra minutes were played still no score which resulted in both games going to penalties. The penalties saw 8 players worth from each team resulting in a win for Alleyn Court and Heycroft.

As for the final it was settled in a much more traditional way, after end to end action Alleyn Court finally took the lead and after ten minutes this saw Alleyn Court winning the final 1-0 and being crowned the 2013 years 3/4 football champions!!  Heycroft came a well-deserved second and Fairways third.
