Yr 5/6 Tag Rugby Triumph

On a day fit for ducks, 7 schools totalling well over 100 children from Yr 5 & 6 took to the pitches and played some very skilful Tag Rugby at Southend Rugby Club.  Each team played two 14 minute matches in random pools after which the top teams from each pool were grouped together to find the overall winner.  After a series of exciting and close matches West Leigh A team not only triumphed for the partnership but also went on to win the Borough final against Bournes Green Juniors.  Milton Hall and Heycroft were very close runners up in the top pool with the 2nd and 3rd positions finally being decided by try difference; Milton Hall 2nd and Heycroft 3rd.  West Leigh Juniors will now go onto represent the Southend West SSP at the County final in November.  Despite the weather, there were lots of smiling faces throughout the day, and unfortunately lots of very muddy kits, especially from the 4 girls who in the true spirit of the game, decided to take a mud bath.  Good luck with the washing!!

Congratulations to everyone from Edwards Hall, West Leigh, Westborough, Heycroft, Sacred Heart, Milton Hall and Chalkwell Hall who took part , as well as the spectators who braved the elements to support their Young People.
