SWSSP Provides Olympic Diving Opportunities!!

Did you watch Tom Daley dive for Great Britain in Rome this year?  Did it appeal to you?

Well with a world class diving facility being built as part of the new diving and swimming complex at the Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre, England’s Talent ID officer and the Southend School Sports Partnerships are working with Southend diving coach Bill Clark to scour the area for up and coming talent.

Pilot trials of the scheme have been carried out in Fairways, Westleigh Juniors, Thorpe Greenway, Earls Hall, Bournes Green and Westborough.  More schools are going to be targeted in the New Year.

Divers need to be flexible in the shoulders, elbows, lower back and hamstrings.  Simple tests were carried out to assess the childrens’ mobility and flexibility.  Children who participated and then selected will be notified after Christmas.

Disappointed it wasn’t your school?  Well you haven’t missed out – simply get yourself down to Warriors Swim Centre on Mondays or Wednesdays at 6pm or contact Ruth on 01702 464445 for more information.
