Year 5 & 6 Kwik Cricket Tournament Boys

On a wet and windy Tuesday the Asda Kwik Cricket Tournament for boys took place at Garons Park Cricket Bowl.

The day began at 12:30, with 11 teams or students from years 5 to 6, all battling for the Cricket Tournament title and a place in the Kwik Cricket County Final, which is to be held at Billericay Cricket Club on the 29th June.

This year we all felt that the standard had once again increased from the previous year. The schools taking part in this year’s competition were, Alleyn Court, Bournes Green A-side and B-side, Chalkwell, Earls Hall, Edwards Hall, Heycroft, Milton Hall, Temple Sutton, Thorpe Hall and Westborough.

The tournament started with the teams taking part in a round robin style group stage, with 3 pools, 2 consisting of 4 teams and 1 pool consisting of 3 teams. Each team had 10 players; however 8 of these could play, leaving the other 2 players as substitutes.

After the group stage, there were semi-finals, with the winners of these two matches going to play in the final. It was a hard fought final between Alleyn Court and Chalkwell Hall, with Alleyn Court coming out on top as winners.
