Talented Table Tennis Teams Tussle at Temple

Temple Sutton was host venue for today’s table tennis tournament. Year 3’s & 4’s battled it out in this morning competition which followed the Table Tennis ‘Butterfly’ skills programme for beginners. Bournes Green school were the worthy winners of this competition.

In the afternoon the competitors were determined to demonstrate some of the skills they have learnt from group practices. Year 5’s & 6’s from various schools entered a team with four players  two girls and two boys to battle against other schools. The games were full of pace and top spin, umpires were sent dizzy with quick returns and smash shots.

Host school Temple Sutton came out on top- with Bournes Green continuing their earlier success in second place. Earls Hall and Heycroft finished as joint third., which means both Temple Sutton and Heycroft will represent Southend in the Essex competition later on in the year.

A big thank you to the SWSSP and SESSP team and to all the staff who supported and supervised the children. A special thanks to Frank Gulley  for organising the competition and Tracy Bennett competition manager for overseeing the scores.
