Essex Carrying the Flame small grant scheme

Following the success of the Essex Carrying the Flame small grant scheme in 2010, Schools and School Sport Partnerships (SSP) across Essex are invited to apply for a one-off grant to enable them to develop new cultural projects that link with Essex County Council’s plans for a Big Event in 2012 (working title).

Essex County Council is planning a cultural celebration in 2012 with a Big Event that will leave a feeling that we maximised the once-in-our-lifetime opportunities of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Although The Big Event and Big Journey will not take place until 2012 Essex Carrying the Falme would like to encourage Schools and School Sport Partnerships to coordinate a project in line with planned events for 2012.

The scheme is aimed at schools and SSP’s who are running cultural projects for the benefit of people in the County of Essex. This scheme offers one-off project support. This years funding is to enable schools and teachers to up skill and ensure the school is getting ready for London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

In order for the School to be eligible for funding the School must be registered on the London 2012 Get Set website and also working towards achieving Network status.

The closing date for applications is Friday 18 February 2011.
