Goals galore at the Hockey

This morning saw the year 3 & 4 pupils from across the two partnerships battle the elements in the annual hockey tournament.

The tournament consisted of two pools which saw two of the pools play each other once where Pool B had three teams which had the opportunity to play each other twice.

There were goals galore in Pool A with nine being a lucky number, Pool B players demonstrated determination and persistence towards scoring to win.

Alleyn Court won the tournament with Thorpe Hall second, Alleyn Court B team played with great speed and skill to place third and West Leigh scored goals to help place them forth.

The afternoon displayed the same determination by all teams with some extra speed and skill. The rain still fell but this didn’t seem to affect the teams. Alleyn Court showed Hockey is one of their stronger sports by placing second. Heycroft came third and Thorpedene placing fourth left St Michael’s debutants winning the tournament.

Congratulations to all players who participated in the tournament, coaches, teachers and parents who helped make the competition go so well and a fun day for all involved.

Special thanks must go to the young apprentices for stepping up and refereeing important matches, Tracy Bennett the competition manager as well as SWSSP and SESSP staff for the refereeing and organisation of the competition.
