Tag Rugby Years 3 & 4

The years 3 & 4 Tag Rugby Tournament was held at The Southend Rugby Club today. The two partnerships were split into four pools, (2 for each partnership) where the West and East teams played each other.

The competition consisted of four rounds with the winners from the SWSSP vs the winners from the SESSP.

The participating schools from the west were Chalkwell, Barons Court, Heycroft and Westborough, Milton Hall and West Leigh.  The East teams were Thorpe Green ways, Alleyn Court, Bournes Green, Bournemouth Park, Temple Sutton, Prince Avernue, Thorpe Greenways and Earls Hall. All schools showed a huge improvement from last year in skill and team work. A special mention goes to Barons Court who had a Year 3 team enter being their first junior competition. Their sportsmanship and skill was exceptional.

The playoffs for Third and Fourth place were between West Leigh and Earls Hall which saw West Leigh dominate to win 6-3.

The final was between Alleyn Court and Heycroft was action packed. At half time the score was 3-2 to Heycroft however Alleyn Court was determined to win another tournament. With a minute to go they were level and Alleyn Court powered through to the win with the result ending 5-4. A fantastic final to watch by all!

Special thanks to all teachers and parents who came to support and both the SWSSP and SESSP teams along with Tracy Bennett (Competition manager) who made sure the competition ran smoothly. We look forward to seeing you all at the next competition on the 30th March years 3 & 4 Football at Play, Chase High School.
