Year 5 & 6 Rounders Competition

The schools from the West and the East enjoyed the sunshine today at the Year 5 & 6 Rounders Competition. The Girls competed in the morning setting the standard for the day. The event this year took place at Thorpe Hall School, both partnerships would like to thank Thorpe Hall because without their hospitality we wouldn’t have been able to run this competition.

The thirteen schools from across both partnerships were placed in four pools where schools played every school in their pool once. The top two schools from each pool progressed into a FA Cup style draw. This left the following matches: Milton Hall v Blenheim, Thorpe Hall v Bournes Green, Alleyn Court v Heycroft & Thorpe Greenways v Earls Hall.  Semi Finals saw Blenheim v Bournes Green & Alleyn Court v Earls Hall. Earls Hall sealed victory over Bournes Green to finish as Champions of the Year 5 & 6 Girls Rounders 2011 in a close game ending 7 ½ to 6 ½ rounders. Bournes Green finished up as worthy runners up with Alleyn Court every present in the medals finishing 3rd and Blenheim collecting medals for the West in 4th.

The sun continued to shine in the afternoon for another round of rounders with the boys from the Southend Borough providing excitement and showing off their batting and fielding skills.
