KS1 Tag Rugby

On Thursday 26th May Southend Rugby Club was the venue for the KS 1 Tag Rugby competition. Unlike the day before the sun was not out shining and it felt like a winter’s day. This did not stop our young competitors from battling through the elements and displaying some excellent standard of Tag Rugby.

The competition consisted of three games played in each pool with the winners from the SWSSP vs the winners from the SESSP and the runners up from the West v the runners up from the East. West teams included Heycroft, Chalkwell, Leigh Infants & Milton Hall. The East teams consisted of: Thorpe Greenways, Bournemouth Park, Hamstel, Temple Sutton, Thorpe Hall & Earls Hall. Heycroft sealed a place into the final with a win against Milton Hall making them undefeated in the competition so far, Temple Sutton marginally missed out of the final place against Hamstel.

The final was a tense affair, Heycroft and Hamstel alternated try’s leaving the last two minute of the game in a state of draw. Hamstel’s speed of the ball sealed victory to be named 2011 KS1 Tag Rugby Champions and winning 7-5 to Heycroft. Third place was awarded to Temple Sutton after their dominate win of 7-3 against Milton Hall.

Special thanks to all teachers and parents who came to support and both the SWSSP and SESSP teams along with DE Photos who were present to capture all the action
