Allen Court take the double

The 2013/2014 School Competition season kicked off today with the Year 5/6 Table Tennis competition. Temple Sutton was the host venue for the first competition of the year. Eight different teams of Year 5’s & 6’s from various schools battled against each other. The games were full of pace and top spin, umpires were sent dizzy with quick returns and smash shots.

 The morning saw the girls battle it out with Alleyn Court, Friars, Bournemouth Park A & B, Bournes Green A & B, Earls Hall & Heycroft.  All girls played with a lot of passion and a fantastic team score from Alleyn Court and Earls Hall in the final.  The final match saw both teams end on  2-2 which resulted in sudden death and Alleyn Court stealing the win with. 

The afternoon saw 8 schools arrive with 4boys in a team, Alleyn Court, Bournes Green, Thorpe Hall, Bournemouth Park, Friars, Heycroft, Temple Sutton & Earls Hall. Silence throughout all games as concentration levels rose and rose, all teams played at a high level leaving the previous schools from the girls also seen in the boys final. Alleyn Court and Bournes green stepped up to the final with Bournes Green winning the first match, Alleyn Court the 2nd, Alleyn Court the 3rd and the 4th.

  Well done to all schools that took part to make the competition as exciting and fantastic as it was on the day. Alleyn Court and Bournes Green A will represent Southend in the Essex competition on the 4th October? A big thank you goes out to all teachers and children and other staff who supported and supervised the children. A special thank you to Temple Sutton for providing refreshments and hosting this competition.
